How nice it is to be able to walk without my head down anymore!  I can look people in the eyes now.  I have to tell myself I don't have to be ashamed of my face anymore.  Pride in myself has been given back to me - I didn't have it before.

The large amount of hair that I had on my face made my life so different.  I used to have to shave twice a day.  It is amazing what electrolysis has done for me.  I was very embarrassed about my facial hair.  I didn't do anything about it for the longest time, because I thought I would have to go to a beauty shop for treatment.  Had I known how private the office at New Image Electrolysis was, and the confidentiality provided, I would have done this years ago.

My testimony begins nearly 20 years ago.

Around 1980, I started to notice hair on my upper lip.  This was quite embarrassing for a young teenage girl.

In 1983, my mother took me to a dermatologist.  He prescribed a birth control pill for my hormones, even though there wasn't anything wrong with my hormones.  This was something that I inherited from both sides of my family.  At this time, I started bleaching the hair on my face.

In 1985, I started using a depilatory.

1988 - I couldn't hide the hair any longer.  I started shaving my upper lip and chin.  I was also tweezing other areas on my face.  I shaved once a day.  If I went out at night, I'd have to shave again.

In 1995, I started electrolysis on my face, and in 1996, I started on my arms.  I go once a week for an hour, switching off between my face and arms.  After four and a half years. I still have more work to be done, but I have seen amazing results.  There is no other permanent hair removal.  Electrolysis is well worth the time and cost.

I think I feel different and look different.  I have more confidence in myself.  And more dates.

For the first time in almost 20 years, I can use the words of Shania Twain and say, "Man, I feel like a Woman"!

I was blest with much unwanted facial hair.  I had hair on my chin, neck, upper lip, between my eyebrows, and both sides of my face.  I considered myself a bad case!.  I spent a half hour or more, each night, plucking some of this extra hair.  I was so self-conscious about it.

My sister knew of my frustration and suggested I look into electrolysis.  She did some checking around and got me associated with "New Image Electrolysis."  I was nervous, but went to my initial consultation.  Ann was very kind and explained/demonstrated the procedure to/for me.

We then started setting up appointments.  I am from Iowa, so I did spend a lot of time at my sister's (who lives by Stoddard, WI) that first summer.  Sarah, Ann's co-worker was also involved with my case.  (She eventually took my case all the way.)  It was summer, I had time off, my skin tolerated the treatment well, so I had about four hours of electrolysis done each week (June to August.)

I had mixed feelings.  I was excited about getting help, but concerned about the expense, travel times, and how long I would be at it.  There were many times that I felt defeated, thinking I would never see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Sarah and Ann continued to encourage me.  I would pick myself up and trudge on.

I had many tearful drives home.  I traveled through snow, sleet, fog, and rain.  Don't get me wrong, there were sunshiny days and clear nights, too.

I am now in my third year of electrolysis.  The progress that has been made is incredible! My appointments are now more scattered -  to every 10 weeks rather than twice a week like it was when I started.  I am not finished, but am well on the way.  I am glad I started out as aggressive as I did and stayed dedicated to it.

I am so happy that I decided upon electrolysis!  It has made a big difference in my life!  I no longer have to pluck or be embarrassed by extra facial hair!  My self-confidence has risen.  The name "New Image," says it all.  I do have a "new image."
